Not really anything to say............................ Joe's pain meds were increased today and they are putting him on a morphine pump tonight. Now when he is awake, he is very groggy and can not complete sentences. The words he does voice are hard to understand if at all.

I hate this! Watching him become frail, his body breaking down. Seeing him in pain and confused.

  4. Joe is so strong and strong willed, and he's a natural born fighter. Our fervent prayers are that Joe finds the peace and contentment in his dialog with the Lord on this journey, and that God will in turn blanket all of you with His love and comforting embrace. God bless all of you, and peace be with all of you. We love you and think about you every hour of every day.

  8. For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling, if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked. For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened—not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

    -2 Corinthians 5:1-10

I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:

“Death is swallowed up in victory.”
“O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

    -1 Corinthians 15:50-56

If a man that is desperately sick today, did believe he should arise sound the next morning; or a man today, in despicable poverty, had assurance that he should tomorrow arise a prince: would they be afraid to go to bed....?

    —Richard Baxter

There is an essential difference between the decease of the godly and the death of the ungodly. Death comes to the ungodly man as a penal infliction, but to the righteous as a summons to his Father's palace. To the sinner it is an execution, to the saint an undressing from his sins and infirmities. Death to the wicked is the King of terrors. Death to the saint is the end of terrors, the commencement of glory.

    —Charles Spurgeon

  10. Thinking of you always. Prayers are said each day that comfort and peace be with each of you. It's okay to go Papa Joe . . . to be with our Lord. Open arms await you . . . a place where your health will be restored . . . a place where you will teach many . . . a place where you will watch over others as you always have. You will be missed here Papa Joe but never will we let the many memories we have of you leave us. You will always be a part of us.

    We love you forever!

  11. We met at a tiny little mom-and-pop motel in Fancy Gap, VA. She and her boyfriend were headed south on a motorcycle trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I was headed north.
It was perfect mountain evening - cool and drizzling rain. We sat on the porch and talked bikes. She was a hard-working no-nonsense Midwestern girl. The Gold Wing she was riding had 115,000 miles and it was her third bike. She wore out the other two. She worked at the Honda factory in Columbus, OH. Her life was motorcycles.
I told her I had not been riding long and asked her to share her best advice with me. She did not hesitate for one second.
"You are going to be in a curve, and you are going to be in trouble. Went in a little too high, or too fast, or it's a tighter curve than you thought. Anyway, you're in trouble. There will be no time to think. Only time to do one thing." Then she looked me right in the eye and said very slowly, "Look through the curve."
That's all she said. It has stayed with me for years. Don't look down. Don't panic. Your instincts and the bike will get you through the tight spot, but only if you look through the curve.
It is advice that applies to more than motorcycles. It applies to many troubles in life.
    Look through the curve.

  13. There must be a unique kind of peace when you are in such a deep sleep where you are actually conversing with God. Joe must be experiencing that kind of peace right now. I believe he is actually having a conversation with his Maker, and I have a feeling he is letting Him know exactly what he expects God to do to take care of his family after he steps into his next life. Joe never minces words, and God must be smiling.

Peace be with all of you at this hour. We love you.
